Acne is a common skin disease that causes blackheads and pimples.
Pimples form when hair follicles under the skin become clogged. Most appear on the face, neck, back, chest and shoulders. 80% of young people between 12 and 18 have acne.
Risk factors. The causes are not known, although it is likely that hormonal changes have some relationship. Are chocolate and fatty foods are often blamed, but there is little evidence that diet has any effect on acne. Dairy and foods with a high sugar content exacerbate acne. Stress does not cause acne, but it can make it worse.
Treatment. Medicine and creams.
