Colorectal cancer is a tumour that begins in the tissues of the colon or rectum.
Risk factors. Exactly what causes colorectal cancer is not known. Some risk factors are the presence of polyps in those locations, ulcerative colitis, obesity, physical inactivity or a poorly balanced diet, among others.
Treatment. Treatment for colorectal cancer depends on the location of the tumour, the degree to which it’s spread and the specific health situation of each person. Treatment includes various therapies: surgery, chemotherapy, biological therapy and radiotherapy.
