A heart attack is a medical emergency. The misconception that an infarction always presents with severe chest pain can lead to deaths that could have been avoided. In fact, there are studies that show that a third of those who suffered a heart attack did not even call an ambulance. It is therefore preferable that, if you suspect a heart attack, you call emergency services quickly.
- DO NOT try to drive yourself to the hospital.
- DO NOT DELAY. There is an increased risk of sudden death in the early hours of a heart attack.
