Opioids are a chemical group that has different uses in medicine (analgesic, cough suppressive, etc.). Heroin is the best known drug in this group. Heroin is a semi-synthetic derivative of morphine that was first synthesised as a medicine in the late 19th Century and today, because of its addictive potential, is illegal in most countries.
This drug is distributed in the form of white powder, which has a higher purity, or brown (brown sugar) which is lower in purity and is known as “H”, “smack”, “boy”, “horse”, “brown”, “black” and “tar”, among others.
