Cocaine is obtained from the leaf of the coca plant or through chemical synthesis. It is a white crystalline powder that is odourless and has a very bitter taste. This drug causes severe dependence and neurological and psychiatric symptoms (hallucinations, euphoria, depression, high anxiety). Other problems arising from the route of administration include perforation of the nasal septum and respiratory symptoms.

Speed (amphetamine sulphate) is crushed amphetamine powder. It is named for the speed with which it acts on the human body due to the route of administration (sniffed / inhaled); it moves into the bloodstream and the central nervous system faster than oral or even injected administration routes, and for the stimulating physical and psychic effect it produces.
