Symptoms

Lupus symptoms vary greatly depending on the individual and how lupus occurs. Most patients do not exhibit all the symptoms. The most common are:

  • Pain and swelling in the joints.
  • Persistent, unexplained fever of over 100.4 °F.
  • Extreme fatigue prolonged.
  • Rashes, (the butterfly wings on cheeks and nose).
  • Chest pain when breathing.
  • Anaemia.
  • Excess protein in the urine.
  • Sensitivity to sunlight or ultraviolet light.
  • Hair loss.
  • Problems with blood clotting.
  • Pale or purple discolouration of the fingers with the cold.
  • Seizures.
  • Persistent oral or nasal ulcers.
