The most common symptoms affecting the face are:
- Paralysis of one of the sides.
- Crooked mouth, one eye more closed than the other.
- Difficulty talking and smiling.
Also, if the stroke occurs in the right side of the brain, the left side of the body will be affected, and paralysis of the left side (left hemiplegia) and visual problems may occur. If the stroke occurs in the left side of the brain, the right side of the body will be affected and paralysis of the right side of the body (right hemiplegia) will occur, other symptoms may include disturbances of vision, problems understanding, alteration or lack of spoken language, among others.
