The most common routes of transmission of Hepatitis B and C are:
- Transfusion of contaminated blood and blood products.
- Medical or dental interventions without proper sterilization of equipment and tools.
- Unprotected sex with carriers.
- From mother to child during pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding.
- Sharing needles among addicts who take drugs intravenously.
- Sharing razors, toothbrushes or other items of domestic use that may be contaminated with traces of blood.
- Tattoos and body piercing if sterilized equipment is not used.
