There is no vaccine or specific treatment for Ebola. However, supportive care (to maintain the balance of fluids and electrolytes the patient, maintaining their oxygen levels and blood pressure) can be used, as well as relief, and treating patients as with any complicated infection.
Infection is confirmed by analysis of blood samples, cultured cells, saliva or urine, through different methods in specialised laboratories and under strict biosecurity.
