Tuberculosis is treated with combinations of anti-tuberculosis drugs, during a period of 6 to 9 months, which are most effective. Treatment can last up to 12 months.
Tuberculosis is curable, but requires early diagnosis (see a doctor immediately) because it is a serious disease if proper treatment is not followed.
It is essential not to quit the doctor’s treatment because, if treatment is stopped, the disease gets worse quickly and favours the spread of medicine-resistant bacilli.
