If you have been diagnosed with breast cancer, you can have hope because, depending on the stage of the disease, the average rate of survival beyond five years may be higher than 90%*.
With the improvement of surgical techniques and the development of new drugs, positive success rates have been achieved, but it is vital that you confront the diagnosis with a lot of willpower from day one.
Once the disease is controlled, the likelihood of relapse is less common as time passes. If ten years go by without the disease recurring, survival is similar to that of the general population.
Learning to live with the disease and having a positive outlook is very important for your treatment to be successful. Remember that you’re not alone, that your family and friends, like your doctors, nurses and other medical staff, will help you overcome the disease. Therefore, you need to have willpower and fight the cancer.
