Asthma symptoms are easily recognizable and are usually caused by the cold, exercise, stress or certain allergens.
The most common symptoms are:
- Shortness of breath, choking: It's like the person is not getting enough air, and it gets worse with exercise or activity.
- Sweating.
- Rapid pulse.
- Intense anxiety and loss of alertness due to difficulty breathing.
- Cough: An asthma cough is worse at night or in the early hours of the morning, making it impossible to sleep peacefully.
- Wheezing: Wheezing or whistling that occurs when breathing.
Not all people with asthma have these symptoms. Testing lung function is the best method for physicians to diagnose asthma.
