Early symptoms herpes include burning or sharp pain and tingling or itching, usually on one side of the body or face. The pain can range from mild to strong. Then blisters that last from one to fourteen days are formed. If herpes appears on the face, can affect vision or hearing. In the case of herpes zoster, the pain can last for weeks, months or even years after healing of blisters.
There is no guarantee for a definitive cure herpes. It is a potentially recurrent infection (new outbreaks appear over time). However, there are medications that can shorten the duration of lesions and decrease the pain they cause.
