There are three types of conjunctivitis:
Bacterial Conjunctivitis: This is a highly contagious form of conjunctivitis caused by a bacterial infection type. Generally, this type of conjunctivitis is accompanied by red eye with a pustular secretion and greenish type crusting that gets stuck on the eyelashes.
Viral Conjunctivitis is the most common cause of conjunctivitis; it is caused by the same virus that causes the common cold and is highly contagious to the other eye and the people around you. The most important thing to prevent infection is hygiene.
Allergic conjunctivitis: This form of conjunctivitis is caused by the body's reaction to an allergen or irritant. It is a type of non-contagious conjunctivitis.
