Fibromyalgia is a common disorder that mostly affects women (90%).
Symptoms. Fibromyalgia is characterised by the presence of an intense chronic widespread pain, fatigue not relieved by rest, insomnia, tingling in the extremities, abdominal disorders, anxiety and depression, among others.
As the cause of the disease is unknown, the current treatment is not satisfactory. There have been especially relevant advances in knowledge of the physical and chemical mechanisms that occur in our bodies in response to stimuli such as stress. It's a matter of time before these advances translate into more effective treatment.
